SCSBOA High School Band Field Season Rankings, Division 2A, 2024

This website provides analysis and comparison of high school marching band field show scores within the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA), division 2A, in the 2024 season. This page may be useful for those involved in marching band, whether you are a band director, coach, coordinator, color guard member, or play an instrument. Unfortunately, the original scoresheets from CompetitionSuite that this dataset was pulled from have been deleted, as SCSBOA deletes past scoresheets yearly after every season.

Field season takes place annually during the months of September-November. Participating bands perform a 6-7 minute show on a field that typically consists of 3 parts: an opener, ballad, and closer. During the show, performers march and create formations for visual impact.

During field season, schools are organized into divisions based on band size (not including auxiliary size). In the SCSBOA, 1A is the smallest division, and 6A is the largest. Schools are judged within their division (not compared to other divisions), and each division has its own championships.

Example

Below is an example video of a field performance. This show was called "El Matador y La Rosa," performed by Yorba Linda High School in 2024. Specifically, this was the preliminary championship competition on Saturday, November 16. This is also the same season featured in the data on the other pages.
